Opel Corsa OPC & Vauxhall Corsa VXR styling kit

You might lack the ‘OPC / VXR” punch (192Hp from the 1.6Turbo) but there’s no reason to lack the looks if you’ve chosen a Corsa. And here’s where Opel / Vauxhall jumps in offering an OPC / VRX inspired full bodykit for a “mere” £1249 (1.840 EUR -2.457 USD in the UK). We strongly recommend though that you add on a set of rims if you don’t want to look like a pimped-up jack-ass... -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the official press release

GENETICALLY MODIFY YOUR CORSA WITH VXR STYLING KIT

Vauxhall’s highly acclaimed new Corsa hatchback looks great from any angle, but now thousands of customers who rushed out to buy one soon after launch can add extra flair and excitement inspired by the manufacturer’s VXR racing team.

The aftersales experts at Vauxhall have come up with a VXR styling kit that provides more than a flavour of the factory model, but will not break the bank. It’s available from Vauxhall retailers throughout the country now.

Made to fit both three and five door versions of the latest generation Corsa, the kit consists of a front lower spoiler, rear roof spoiler, side sills and rear lower skirt to recreate the dramatic styling cues of Vauxhall’s race-inspired range of high performance cars.

The full VXR styling kit can be supplied and fitted to match body colour for £1249 (1.840 EUR -2.457 USD. If your funds will not run to that, the rear roof spoiler can be supplied and fitted on its own for £269.

No car customising is complete without a set of stylish alloy wheels. A whole new range of Irmscher alloys specially designed for the new Corsa are available from Vauxhall retailers, with prices starting at £391 for a set of four 14 inch wheels.

Callaway C16 Convertible to debut in New York

Corvette specialist Callaway announced that it’ll introduce a convertible version of its Z06 based, C16 Coupe that debuted earlier this year, at the New York International Auto Show in April. Like its Coupe sibling, the Convertible will be equipped with Callaway’s 560-hp supercharged 6.0-liter V8. Optionally, the C16 Convertible will also be available with the optional Performance Package that delivers 616 Hp at 6,200 rpm and 582 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. According to Callaway, the C16 Convertible does 0 to 60mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 sec and a quarter-mile (0-400m) in 11.2 sec while top speed is estimated at just over 200 mph or 322 km/h. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the official press release

PRESS RELEASE: CALLAWAY C16 CONVERTIBLE MAKES WORLD DEBUT AT 2007 NEW YORK AUTO SHOW

World-Class Supercar Performance, Now Available in a Paddle Shifted Convertible

Callaway Cars announced it will unveil the C16 Convertible – the company’s latest variant in an impressive lineup of exclusive, hand-built ultra-high-performance automobiles – at the New York International Auto Show.

Based on the current Chevrolet Corvette platform, the C16 convertible takes performance, style and open-air motoring to the next level, giving buyers an opportunity to experience premium supercar performance in a convertible, complete with the ease of a 6-speed, paddle-shift automatic transmission.

“Customers who want the exhilaration of a convertible and the daily driver convenience of a paddle-shift automatic without sacrificing the performance capabilities of a Z06 and beyond, can only get it here,” says company founder Reeves Callaway. “With this car we have maintained the C16’s class-leading performance, while creating a gorgeous convertible version, based on one of the best sports car platforms ever made. In true Callaway tradition it incorporates our race-proven technologies and superlative craftsmanship in an arresting and appealing style.”

The C16 Convertible, like the C16 Coupe, was drawn and modeled by designer Paul Deutschman, who has a twenty-year portfolio of Callaway designs. Architect of the Callaway look – from its 254 mph Sledgehammer and Corvette-based Le Mans race cars to the current C16 versions – he has masterfully remodeled the original design, redrawing every panel of the standard body to achieve the C16 Convertible’s integrated look while retaining the Corvette’s easy-to-operate power top.

Equipped with Callaway’s 560-hp supercharged 6.0-liter V8, the C16 Convertible is also available with an optional Performance Package that delivers 616 supercharged horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 582 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The Callaway C16 Convertible does 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, and a quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds. Top speed of the paddle shifted convertible is estimated at just over 200 mph. Equally impressive is its fuel efficiency rating of 18 city/28 highway. It is emissions compliant and backed by a 5 year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

There are three transmission options on the Callaway C16 Convertible: two 6-speed manual transmissions (one incorporating the Z51 Performance Package’s shorter ratios in the first four gears), or a 6-speed automatic with paddle shift. The Callaway C16 Convertible, like C16 Coupe, delivers the feeling of a fully integrated driver’s car, maintaining the company’s legendary hallmark of easy-to-drive, super high-performance road cars, now available with the added pleasure of top-down motoring.

Inside, the C16 convertible’s cockpit is completely retooled in fine German leather and Alcantara, featuring seats with a choice of harnessing styles manufactured for Callaway by Recaro. Door sill panels, steering wheel and passenger dash area also carry signature Callaway badging. Each automobile is serialized and identified by its build plaque. Each C16 convertible is built to order. Clients choose body and top color and interior appointments to individual taste.

The car’s razor-sharp handling and comfortable ride are courtesy of newly developed Callaway/Eibach Multi-Pro coil-over suspension. This advanced spring/damper system features ride height, corner weight, and pitch angle adjustability. The aluminum-bodied dampers feature 10-click-position compression and rebound adjustability and have remote mounted reservoirs, allowing the driver to customize settings for track or road conditions.

To bring the Callaway C16 Convertible from 200+ mph to rest, the C16 utilizes a Stoptech brake system developed exclusively for Callaway using 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers gripping 355mm diameter rotors. Super-lightweight Callaway Dymag wheels - the lightest road wheel in the industry - measure 19” x 10” front and 20” x 12” rear. The Dymag wheel features forged magnesium centers surrounded by carbon fiber rims - another example of Callaway bringing their race experience to their road cars. Yokohama “AdvanSport” 285/30ZR19 (front) and 325/25ZR20 (rear) tires complete the package.

Pricing for a fully loaded C16 Convertible is $128,765 USD. All Callaway C16 Convertible components are available individually, for both new and currently owned Corvettes, through Callaway authorized retailers and installers.

Lada Red & Black: A 220Hp Russian "pimpster" you’d better not joke about

How do you double the value of a Lada? Fill it with petrol! Nice joke, but you’d better keep it for yourself if you ever “bump” into this tuned Lada 2110. Dubbed “Red & Black” this extreme Lada 2110 is the work of Lukoil Racing Team & Tj Auto. While Russian language is certainly not one of our strong points, we tried our best though a translation program to decode some info of Lukoil’s site. From what we made, the Rad & Black is a road going version of Lukoil’s "Super class" racing car.

While the exterior is not that dramatic –well apart from the Jumbo jet rear spoiler that is, its interior is quiet impressive with the F1 inspired dashboard and the aero-type console with the 6speed sequential auto-box. Weighing in at just 1.150kg - 2535 lbs, the Red & Black is equipped with a 1.6-litre 4cylinder engine that has an output of 220hp @ 8.300 rpm (!) and a maximum torque figure of 220Nm @ 6.800 rpm. According to Lucoil, Red & Black needs a mere 5,5 sec to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) and it reaches a top speed of 230 km/h – 143 mph. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the official press release & more pics

Lorinser tunes the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Lorinser is one of the first tuners to get its hands on the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class that goes by the internal code W204. There’s no English press release out yet but we did managed to download a pdf file from the German tuner so we’ve got some initial facts. Design-wise, Lorinser has dressed the 2008 C-Class with 18’' or 19’’ alloys and a stylish, yet dynamic bodykit that doesn’t go overboard. The most notable change of course is the side air-vents.-Continued: Click “Read More…” below -UPDATE: Official English press release added

Lorinser sort of lost its taste though when it came to the interior with its bright-red and black coloured trim and the quilt-type seat dressings. As for mechanics, from what we where able to make out, Lorinser offers tuned versions of the 3.0 V6 diesel and 3.5 V7 petrol engines that deliver 261 and 305 Hp respectively (from 224 & 272 Hp). The Lorinser C 320 CDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 7,1 sec (stock: 7,7 sec) achieving a (governed) top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).

PRESS RELEASE

Get close to the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and you will believe you can sense pounding of an athlete’s heart, and the tensing of muscles. Never before has Mercedes-Benz released a sedan this dynamic.

Just like a great tailored suit, the tuning options offered by Lorinser bring out the best qualities of its wearer. Precision artisanship and a sense for the right line forge the dynamic ensemble. Especially notable are the large air intakes in the fenders, which like the nostrils of a thoroughbred breathe pure performance. The characteristic styling accents make this vehicle an unmistakable member of the Lorinser collection. Underlining the muscular appearance of this youthful and dynamic style are the technical lines of the side skirts, which highlight the clear contours of the vehicle.

A focus point are the 6 gill-like air-vents. The side skirts are the optical link between the turbine style Lorinser type RS8 light alloy wheels. Alternatively a large range of other wheel designs is available from Lorinser. When viewed from the front, most impressive is the Lorinser front bumper spoiler for the C-Class. However most will likely be seeing the rear of the vehicle thanks to the performance gains provided by the Lorinser Diesel Module, which adds considerable power.

The large air intake in the center, covered by a webbed grille, is reminiscent of motor sports. To the left and right, large fog lights form optical focus points highlighting the horizontal nature of the front bumper spoiler, and create a face for the vehicle. A sporty grille, perpendicular in design to the front is the stile accent at the rear. Hear it forms a perfect contour element for the fully integrated Lorinser sport exhaust, which sounds just as great as it looks. Formally the tip design is found in the sail shape of high performance boats, reflecting the synthesis of dynamics and luxury. And just like a yacht in water, the C-Class appears to meld into tarmac, thanks to the lowering kit.

Pimped BMW 3-Series: Polish tuner mixes BMW E30 with E46 & E60!

Somehow this freaky little Bavarian bugger escaped our "bad-taste" radars till now. We’ve had our share of ugly ducklings but this one could easily win a prize for its unconventional –to say the least, appearance. Work of some polish guy, this pimped BMW 3-Series combines an E30 3-Series body with an E60 5-Series butt and an E46 3-Series front end. There’s no pics of the interior but I guess an i-Drive wouldn’t be out of the question… Via: Autoblog.nl

BMW 3-Series Convertible Individual Style packs

First of all don’t confuse the Individual pack with the 3-Series Cabrio "M Sport" versions we posted exactly a month ago. What we have here is BMW’s original accessories program that includes aerodynamic packages, alloy rims, iPod compatible hi-fi’s, wind defectors, integrated mobile-phones and a whole pack of extra’s that can easily leave your bank-account as dry as a desert.

Since we don’t have the English press release on our hands yet we enclosed the German. As for the 3-Series Convertibles featured in the pics, they’re fitted with an aerodynamic kit, light alloys, a wind defector, a rear spoiler and white direction indicators. Don’t know about you but to be honest, I find the aerodynamic package with the rear boot spoiler kinda hideous. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the German press release & more pics

Hartge presents new front lip spoiler for E60 BMW 5-Series

Be honest, you’re shivering from excitement with the news, aren’t you now…? Well, even if you don’t dig the appearance of these plastic add-ons, look at it this way; if you live at a place where it snows on a regular base, due to its shape, Hartge’s front lip spoiler could be quite useful as a car-mounted shovel…

Video: Monster Motorsports Mazda Miata / MX-5 V8

Ok, I know this story isn’t exactly new but this is the first time I’ve seen Monster Mototrsport’s Miata V8 in real-life action. I'm not sure if the company exists anymore since their site (www.monstermotorsports.com) has been down for a long time now. What I do know though is that the Southern Californian based tuner made a reputation by replacing Miata’s stock 4cylinder 1.6 with a 5-litre EFI Ford V8 engine that was offered with several outputs, starting out from about 250Hp and going up to 500Hp with the addition of a supercharger.

Twin-Supercharged 806Hp Cadillac CTS-V by Predator Performance

When I first saw this 806Hp Twin-Supercharged Caddy CTS-V the first thing that popped up in my head was the 810Hp Twin-Turbocharged Currency Motors BMW M5. Click on the link and you’ll see what I mean. Like its pimped Deutsch counterpart, Predator Performance’s CTS-V is one hell of a bad ass machine.

Underneath its stealth-black widebody, this unique CTS-V hides some heavy artillery. Predator threw out the stock V8 and in its place came a modified Corvette C5R 427 engine. Along with the addition of two ATI Procharger P-1SC blowers generating 12 psi of boost, the Caddy’s V8 pumped out 806Hp at 6,400 rpm and 756 ft-lbs of torque at 5,100 rpm at the dyno! There’s no official performance figures out for this thundering monster, but with 806 wild horses, who cares! -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see details & more pics

TechArt GTstreet: Official pics of the 630Hp Porsche 911 Turbo based coupe

Wrapping-up our reports on the 2007 Geneva Show we’ve got the first official pictures on TechaArt’s insane GTstreet. Unlike the other “clockwork orange” show car, Lumma Design’s CLR 500 RS, the GTstreet lived up to our expectations in terms of design though personally, I think a “Polar White” colour would be have been a better choice.

Featuring a supped-up version of the 997 911 Turbo’s 3.6-litre boxer engine that develops 630 hp / 463 kW at 6,800 rpm and 820 Nm at 4,500 rpm (up from 480 hp / 353 kW & 620 Nm), the GTstreet accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in 3.2 seconds and to 200 km/h (124mph) after just 10.9 seconds while it has a maximum speed of 345 km/h – 215mph. Insane? Definitely but so is its price: 245,000 EUR or 321.600 USD… Via: Autoblog.it & TechArt -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the press release & a high-res image gallery

PRESS RELEASE

The Next Generation: TechArt GTstreet Based on Porsche 911 Turbo

The TechArt TA 097/T3 engine conversion comprises two special VTG turbochargers, a new air box with sport air filter, high-performance manifolds, intercoolers and a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with high-performance catalysts. The precise optimal interaction of all modifications is ensured by a newly programmed engine management system.

Power is transferred to all four wheels via a modified transmission with TechArt gear-throw shortening. Thus equipped the TechArt GTstreet delivers performance that firmly places it among the world’s fastest sports cars: 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h after just 10.9 seconds and a top speed of 345 km/h speak volumes.

The body kit for the TechArt GTstreet was created in the wind tunnel, and offers an optimal symbiosis of aerodynamic downforce, minimized drag and striking design. The front fascia of the GTstreet with retractable carbon-fiber splitter produces downforce on the front axle and provides radiator, oil coolers and brakes with more cooling air, thanks to its large, striking air inlets. The auxiliary headlamp units with daytime running lights and fog lamps improve active safety. They also give the car even more passing clout.

The TechArt GTstreet fender flares on the front axle add 10 mm to the two-door’s width and give it an even more dynamic appearance. But that’s not all: The air outlets behind the front wheel houses optimize brake venting. The larger air ducts in the rear sidewalls provide engine and intercoolers with a larger supply of cooling air. For an optimal transition between front and rear fenders the TechArt designers have developed rocker panels that complement the new contours. TechArt mirror and headlamp moldings provide the finishing touches.

The TechArt roof spoiler extends the roofline and optimizes airflow to the adjustable rear airfoil of the GTstreet. The TechArt GTstreet rear fascia with integrated carbon-fiber diffuser contributes to the strong downforce generated on the rear axle. It also provides the perfect backdrop for the quad exhaust of the TechArt high-performance exhaust system.

TechArt Automobildesign offers a number of versions of its popular Formula wheel in sizes 8.5Jx20 in front and 12Jx20 on the rear axle. GTstreet buyers can choose from several color combinations and between the one-piece Formula and the multi-piece Formula II designs. The Formula II wheel features an exchangeable wheel lip. For optimal tires TechArt chose ContiSportContact 3 high-performance tires in sizes 245/30 ZR 20 and 325/25 ZR 20.

The large 20-inch wheels also provide the necessary space for the especially powerful and durable TechArt high-performance brake system. It features six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 390-millimeter discs on the front axle. The rear axle is fitted with 365-millimeter discs and four-piston fixed calipers.

The TechArt GTstreet comes with a TechArt VarioPlus coil-over suspension that is based on the electronically adjustable PASM damping system of the 911 Turbo. This chassis allows individual ride-height lowering by up to 25 millimeters and push-button selection of two different damper settings, “Normal” or “Sport.” However, the dampers are not limited to these presets. Sporty driving automatically results in firmer damper settings in both modes, thus combining excellent ride comfort during normal driving with agile and responsive handling during fast cornering.

The cockpit of the TechArt GTstreet also differs distinctly from the stock 911 Turbo. Among the differences is an exclusive leather interior with color-contrasted stitching and sporty CarboBlack highlights. The coupe is further equipped with an ergonomically shaped TechArt sport steering wheel, aluminum foot pedals, foot rest and shifter, as well as with illuminated door sills sporting the TechArt logo.

B&B Audi TT Edition R : 500Hp strong TT 3.2 V6 with an R8 inspired bodykit breaks cover in Geneva

Yesterday we posted an article on the Audi TT with the R8 inspired bodykit. Looks like the car is the work of German tuner “B&B” who used a bodykit from the Belgium based “Caractere” and we’re saying looks like, since we haven’t found a press release on either site so we’ll have to do with what we found on the net (including among others, AMS).

Apart from the obvious, the B&B Audi TT Edition R uses a heavily reworked version of Audi’s 3.2 V6. Thanks to the addition of a newly developed turbocharger, a complete sports exhaust system with race catalysts and new motor management and electronics, the 3.2 delivers a thundering 500Hp and 650Nm of torque. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the rest of the article & more pics

That’s good enough to give the TT “x-rated” acceleration figures: 0-100 km/h (62mph) in 4,2 sec., 0-200km/h (124mph) in 12,5 sec. , 0-300km/h (187mph) in 39,2sec. and a top speed of 320km/h (199mph). Complete cars can be ordered starting from 89.950 EUR – 118.000 USD. Info Via: AMS
