Chrysler has just revealed the first images and details of its 2011 Jeep Patriot, and the compact softroader has received very subtle nip/tuck for the new model year that touch nearly every aspect of the vehicle.
Exterior upgrades include what Chrysler describes as a more "aggressive" front fascia with standard foglamps, a new rear fascia, body-color grille and optional 17-inch wheels. The 2011 Jeep Patriot will be offered with front-wheel- or four-wheel-drive, and will be available in three configurations – Sport, Latitude and Latitude X. Sales will begin in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Other top features are the 2011 Jeep Patriot model's affordability, fuel economy for its segment and safety features, Chrysler said. (The 2010 model took Top Safety Pick honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety -- provided the vehicle has the optional side torso airbags). Chrysler hasn't announced pricing, but Edmunds experts expect that the base-model MSRP will be $17,795 and predict that fuel-economy will be a combined 25.

Leaked: 2008 Jeep Wrangler SRT-6 AFD
We where more than surprised this morning when we discovered this Jeep Wrangler SRT-6 rendering at JK-Forum.com. The author of the post claims he got a snapshot of the rendering with his cell-phone from JP Magazine in the Dispatch section of April 2007 issue. The bad news is that, according to information provided by JP Magazine, the ultimate Jeep Wrangler SRT-6 will receive a supercharged version of the 4.0L V-6 from the Dodge Nitro R/T pumping out 415HP and 410 lb-ft of torque. The good news is that the 415Hp Wrangler is nothing more than a leaked April Fools Day hoax… Via: JK-ForumTechnorat: Jeep+Wrangler, auto+news, car+news, automobile, cars, automotive, vehicles, autos, Carscoop, blogs, images, pictures, 2007

Jeep Compass "Urban-Playground" Commercial
As the new Compass “blasts” into town, heaps of trash including, rubbish-bins, bicycles, chairs and I don’t know what else, form up a Transformer-like being, which starts to chase the Jeep. In the end, “Rubishoid” finally catches up with the playful Jeep and uses it as skateboard. Ha, at least someone found something useful to do with the Compass!

Chrysler Nassau & Jeep Trailhawk – Sneek Peek Video
Yes, yes, yes; we have another teaser! To be honest though, I’ll have to give a few points to Chrysler Group for not attempting to tease us in the usual sketch followed by a “cryptic, front or rear end pic” way. Instead they decided to skip the last part and go the “Youtube” way, releasing a video through their journalist blog, which will surely draw much more attention.
Our friends over at Jalopnik took the liberty of downloading the 31 sec video thus, sparing us a few precious minutes of our time to capture some pics. Accompanied by the rhythms of tribal drums, we not only get the chance to see several teaser pics of the Chrysler Nassau & Jeep Trailhawk concepts but we also get a teaser taste of African dancers. Unfortunately, as Mike Spinelli from Jalopnik adds, you’ll have to dig out your National Geographic DVDs if you want to see some boobie action... Via: Jalopnik

Random thoughts: The Frankenstein car age
BY the mid 90’s, MPV’s and SUV’s had taken the world by surprise, forcing even moderate companies such as Mercedes and Porsche to succumb in the temptation of presenting a proposal to meet their car lusting consumers needs.
So what if an MPV owner used his car’s seven seats less frequent than a pig takes a bath. Who cares if the most difficult obstacle that a 21’’ rim SUV will pass is the pavement of its owner’s front yard. All that matters is the feeling of uniqueness that these vehicles give to their owners. However, fashion brings sales and sales, saturation.
So now, people think: “Is it worth giving up good road manners and mild consumption for, limited or even worse, zero, exploitation of my SUV’s or MPV’s capabilities? From the moment that sales eliminated the image factor, the answer is NO.
The automobile world has taken the message and its getting ready for the future with a new bread of models. Following the example of geneticists, car industries found the answer in mixing various car-DNA characteristics in order to create myriads of subcategories that promise to satisfy consumers most boldest dreams with the least possible compromises.
The latest example of this category-mixing up philosophy is the European Ford S-MAX with DNA from MPV and hot hatchbacks. Ooh and don’t forget the American Jeep Patriot and Compass models that supplement the Cherokee in Jeep’s triad (!) of compact SUV’s. One is more stylish, one is more capable off road and the other is … well, I believe even they don’t know what the heck it is.
As this is just the dawn of the Frankenstein car age, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I saw BMW for example, bringing its Z18 concept to life, adding a pint of MPV versatility and a electric folding metal roof top, thus creating the worlds first coupe-cabrio -MPV –SUV called the ZXM 4…But wait, didn’t Chevrolet sort of beat them to that with the "highly succesful" SSR...?
Don’t know about you, but seems to me that car manufactures are trying to make something like a horseradish flavoured, pink coloured, square watermelon…

2007 Jeep Patriot Official Release
The Patriot is a more traditional 4-door Jeep wagon, while the Compass is intended as a sporty "hot hatch" crossover like the Toyota Matrix. The Dodge Caliber on the other hand is a combination of these two segments.
Official Press Release: Most Capable Vehicle in its Class
Jeep Patriot is available in three drivetrain configurations. In addition to the standard front-wheel-drive system, Jeep Patriot also is available with
Freedom Drive I is an available full-time, active four-wheel-drive system with Lock mode designed to give drivers year-round assurance, as well as the ability to handle rough weather and low-traction conditions. This active four-wheel-drive system is recommended for daily use, including driving in snow and rain. Freedom Drive I features a lockable center coupling, giving drivers the ability to put the Jeep Patriot in four-wheel-drive Lock mode to handle deeper snow, sand and other low-traction surfaces.
The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is an available four-wheel-drive system that makes the Jeep Patriot a Trail Rated 4x4, creating the most capable vehicle in the crowded compact SUV class. The available Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is recommended for true off-road situations that include steep grades, wheel lift and rock or log climbing.
